Article summary

This article will explain a reason as to why an entered telephone number will not save.

In order for a phone number to be entered and saved, the phone number must be formatted with a 3 character area code and a 7 digit number.

Any format variant is okay as long as there are 10 significant digits.

  • (223) 444-5555
  • 223.444.5555
  • 2234445555
  • 223-444-5555
  • Etc.

When entered that way, the system formats it to (223) 444-5555.

When extra characters (such as 1+, +1) are entered in the phone number, imPowr formats the number as (+12) 234-445555, causing the length to be too long and resulting in the following message being displayed:

The message occurs on the validate prior to the save. So, no checking takes place until you click Apply or Save.

This is typically the reason why a phone number does not save.

TIP: Always remember to only enter a 10-digit long phone number.
